10 interesting CAD models from the past couple of weeks

SolidWorks World 2017 is quickly approaching and with the event on the horizon we’ve decided to make this month’s theme centered around the top models created using SolidWorks. Check out the most interesting ones below:

This model of a mountain bike absolutely blew my mind! Every single part, from handlebars to the gears, to the shock springs, to individual links in the bike chain, everything is presented in stunning detail.

Robot Fanuc by Edmilson G. de Oliveira

Robot Fanuc by Edmilson G. de Oliveira

An excellent model of a robotic arm, ready for the assembly line. I used to work in a lab filled with these, so it brings back memories…

Deep Space Station Victor-Four by Hans de Ridder

Deep Space Station Victor-Four by Hans de Ridder

Hans has created an excellent model of a space station here. I love the massive downward-pointing antenna, which would presumably beam messages to/from whatever planet lies below. And the small ship approaching port V4 is a nice touch.

CNC Milling Design by Melih Tuncer

CNC Milling Design by Melih Tuncer

I’m no expert on CNC technology, but this looks like an impressive piece of milling machinery! I would trust this with my drilling and cutting tasks.

BMW M3 Sport by Naim Kimosabe

What I would give to be at the wheel of one of these beauties! Again the detail of this model goes above and beyond. Even the racing seats inside are rendered.

Arduino UNO & Wifi Shield Fast Draft by Nicolas Matthey

Arduino UNO & Wifi Shield Fast Draft by Nicolas Matthey

Authentic model of an Arduino microcontroller, paired with a Wifi Shield. The USB (1.0, 2.0) ports and AC port all look realistic and proportionate. Looks ready for my PC!

Jet Engine by Yasin Yeler

Jet Engine by Yasin Yeler

A colorful, attractive, translucent model of a jet engine. I would love more planes to adopt this look so we can see the engine’s innards at work.

Milling CNC by Alisa Amber

Milling CNC by Alisa Amber

Another CNC Milling machine that caught my eye. There has been a proliferation of CNC tech on the Community Library lately, so I’m glad to see some of the best SolidWorks CNC models represented here.

DAMEN Stan Patrol 1605 by Milk Name

DAMEN Stan Patrol 1605 by Milk Name

This is a faithful recreation of a Netherlands-based Damen Stan patrol boat, sold primarily to the United States and South Africa. The attention to detail is stunning, down to the radio antennas and air conditioning units.

Mack Granite - LWB by Damo Petty

Mack Granite – LWB by Damo Petty

I love all the little details on this model of a Mack freight truck cab, from the exhaust pipe to the accent lights and horns on top.
